Salvador Dalí was a Spanish painter and is considered one of the most important representatives of surrealism. As a child, he was very interested in painting. He received his first painting lessons at the age of 10 from Impressionist artist Ramón Pichet.

In 1941, Dalí gave up his surrealist style for more universal artistic themes.

Le Tricorne (The Triangular Hat) is a humorous tale of amorous exploits and mistaken identity set in late eighteenth-century Spain. Le Tricorne suite consists of twenty plates created by Dali for the edition of Pedro A. de Alarcon’s story. Dali’s illustrations for Le Tricorne are a balance between the beautiful and the morbid.
